So many memories of John, over the decades since 1950s Manchester 20. Both Man City fans (character forming) and 'plane spotters'. John's zest for life and adventure was always present - as was a warm welcome at his family home,near to mine. No matter where John was based (RAF/BA) he was brilliant at keep in touch. Sometimes (with dark humour that was always a trademark) phoning me from an exotic location, knowing I was under gloomy UK skies...In recent, tough times, I knew that John would draw on his inner strength to battle illness (and very likely in record time know more than his Docs) which he did. Our final chat was typical. As light hearted as possible (easier said than done) with jokes, reminiscences and a fair % of smug satisfaction that City were on course for another PL title... Au revoir, mate, time for me to stop rambling and I've got something in my eye that need removing...love to family and all who cared for such a great bloke. Dave B
